The land similar to that of Tibetan plateau is almost treeless, barren landscape and yet possesses distinctive beauty that overwhelms thousands of tourists every year.

Upper Mustang a rare gem for the mystery seekers, those searching for mystic answers, and for those eager to listen and cross the thin line between the real world and the spiritual world.  This land has been left forbidden land until early 1990’s and its secrets have been exposed to all and yet very few has been able to pierce its surface let alone reach the depth.

Upper Mustang Trekking offers up-close views of magnificent mountains like Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri Himal etc. Apart from mountains, you will walk through to fabled villages, search for hundreds of mythical caves, artistic Buddhist monasteries and interact with locals – hear out their thrilling stories.

Your 16 days journey begins in Kathmandu with tours of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Next you will you drive to Pokhara and fly to Jomsom, the starting point of the trekking. Located at the region between Manang and Dolpo in the northern-western part of Nepal, the weather is cold and dry. The trip is moderate in level.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01 - Arrival in Kathmandu

Once you arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will receive a warm welcome by our staff and transferred to the hotel in our private transportation.

Day 02 - Guided Sightseeing around Kathmandu Valley

After having a morning breakfast, you will be guided by our professional tour guide to visit the monasteries, temples, monuments, sculptures and historical places in Kathmandu. You can also explore more in the rest of your time in Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 03 - Drive to Pokhara – 7 Hours

We will drop you to the bus that leaves for Pokhara with our guide. After 7 hours continuous drive, we will reach Pokhara. Overnight at hotel in Pokhara.

Day 04 - Morning Flight to Jomsom and Trek to Kagbeni (2,800 m) – 4.5 Hours

We will fly to Jomson from Pokhara early in the morning. You can view the amazing view of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri on the northwest. After we reach Jomson, we will start our trek to Kagbeni, gateway to Upper Mustang. It will take around 4 and half hours. You will find a bare landscape and the Kali Gandaki River flowing down the Kagbeni Village. Overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 05 - Trek to Chele (3,050 m) – 6 Hours

We will walk along the riverbed of Kali Gandaki River, passing over many ridges reaching Tangbe Village. The town is full of black, white, red chortens with plenty of alleys between whitewashed houses. Walking further we will reach Chusang village where you can take short respite and continue your journey to Chele. Hiking father crossing the river, passing spectacular eroded the red cliffs and climbing the steepy path to Chele. You will find Tibetan culture of Lo in Chele. Overnight at guesthouse.

Day 06 - Trek to Geling (3,500 m) – 7 Hours

As the trek continues, we climb a steep spur passing along the side of the spectacular steep canyon gradually descent towards the ridge reaching Samar Village. Walking further beyond Samar Village, we will find the juniper trees and crossing the stream and climbing the narrow hill we descend to Shyangmochen. The trail continues as we enter the wide fields of barely finally arriving at Geling. Overnight at guesthouse.

Day 07 - Trek to Charang (3,620 m) – 7 Hours

After breakfast, we start our trek passing the Ghaymi River and climbing the fascinating Nyi La. Walking forward, we can see the colorful cliffs and green landscapes at Drakmar. As we move futher, we will arrive at longest ancient Mani wall of Mustang. As we follow the stream, we descend to huge Village Charang. You can visit the immense five story white Dzong and red Gompa here. Overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 08 - Trek to Lo-Manthang (3,810 m) – 4 Hours.

The trail climbs gently above the valley crossing the Tsarang Chu and follows the track entering the Tholung Village. Then the trail further ascends to the windy pass leading to the city of wall, Lo-Manthang. Overnight at a guesthouse

Day 09 – Explore Lo-Manthang

We will visit Namgyal Gompa and Tingkhar. Namgyal Gimpa is situated on a hilltop which is a monastery for local people and a local court as well. Then we continue our trail to Tingkhar which is last main village of Lo-Manthang having around 40 houses. You can also visit the Tall Champa Lakhang "God house" the red Thugchen Gompa, Chyodi Gompa and the Entrance Hall. And then we return to Lo-Manthang. Overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 10 - Trek to Yara (3,650 m) – 7 Hours

As we climb up from Lo-Manthang, we will walk along the ridge descending to Dhi Village. The we cross a river following the path along the left bank of river side to Yara Village. Overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 11 - Trek to Tangbe (3,370 m) – 7 Hours

We start our trek early in the morning. The trail goes crossing the Dhechaeng Khola (river) and climbing above a pass of 3,850m and passing the bare hills leading to Tangbe Village. Tangbe is a small village where we can see the houses attached to each other and turning your face to the north you can see some hundred year’s old sandy cliffs. Overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 12 - Trek to Tetang / Chusang (3,022 m) – 9 Hours

We start our trek early in the morning by climbing some steps and then crossing over the suspension bridge moving forward to the right leading to Yak Khola(river). The trail continues along the flat land on the left. As we continue further, trail descend to the mud roof valley, Tetang  or Chusang. Overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 13 - Trek to Muktinath (3,800 m) - 5 Hours

We will trek from Tetang to Muktinath straight to Gyu La pass from where we can see paranomic view of mountains. As we ascend our trek, we will grazing domestic animals as well as wild mountain goats while passing through Kharkas. Then following the trail we reach Muktinath via Chhenkar village. After exploring the Muktinath, we will drive to Jomsom by a local jeep. Overnight at a guesthouse in Jomsom.

Day 14 – Fly back to Pokhara

We will fly back to Pokhara from Jomsom. Once we arrive Pokhara , we will drive to hotel. Then we will have some sightseeing tour around Pokhara Valley. Fewa Lake, Davis Waterfall, Museum, Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave, World Peace Pagoda and Bat Cave are some main attractions of Pokhara. Overnight at a hotel.

Day 15 - Drive Back to Kathmandu

We will drive back to Kathmandu in the tourist bus. It will take about 7 hours. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 16 - Final Departure

We will drop you to Kathmandu International Airport as per your flight time and our staff will assist you with check in procedures.
