Overview

Tharpu Peak is one of the most popular peak climbing destination partly due to that it lies in the Annapurna Sanctuary and also due to its comparatively low altitude it is perfect for the beginners. Locally known as Tent peak, named by mountaineer Jimmy Roberts in 1956, Tharpu peak is situated at the hub of the Annapurna region at the height of 5,663m above the sea level.

You can ascend the peak from the original route of the peak winding through North West ridge. The peak can also be climbed through South East Ridge as well as South West portion. You can plan the climbing combined with the trekking to Annapurna Base camp. Tharpu peak acts as the separator between the semicircles of peak wrapping the Annapurna Sanctuary. It is considered as the ideal destination for the first time climbers since it is comparatively easier to climb giving out whole lot of experience for the future mountaineers. It is the fraction of the ridgeline and is placed in the south of the glacier dome.

Apart from its easiness, you can also enjoy breath-taking views of Annapurna massif, Gangapurna, Fang, Machhapuchhre, Hiuchuli, Singu chuli and many more. You will also visit other attractions that links with the routes to Annapurnasuch as the Poonhill, Machhapuchhre Base camp and majestic Annapurna base camp where you will be given proper instructions on safety, guidelines and use of equipment and harnesses.

Your journey to Tharpu peak begins with the flight or drive to Pokhara which will lead to Nayapul. Nayapul is the gateway to Annapurna region. You will trek through villages mostly occupied by Gurung ethnicity, deep forests of rhododendrons, oaks and pines towards Ghorepani, Poonhill and strongly follow through to Annapurna Base Camp. You will get some rest for acclimatization and preparation for climbing the summit. Your safety is always the priority for us – so please follow the instructions of the guide, use the ropes, crampons, ice-axes properly. Once you have accomplished the trip, you will descend all the way to Dhampus, Phedi to take the drive back to Pokhara and finally to Kathmandu for the final departure.
