Trekking in Mustang region is one of the popular routes that give an amazing experience of walking the trail along the world’s deepest gorge of Kali Gandaki to walking through barren and dry lands all the while admiring the magnificent views of mountains ranges from Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Fishtail and many others.

Lower Mustang tour is uniquely designed for you covering wide areas of trekking into the deep rhododendron forests, passing through different villages surrounded by lush barley fields to tough walks through rocky, barren dry lands, observing rare natural caves, wonderful sunrises and sunsets amidst the mountains. The tour includes the fascinating journey to experience the warmth and hospitality of people of Ghandruk village, Marpha, Kagbeni and Jomsom, mesmerizing sunrise and panoramic view of Annapurna massif and Dhaulagiri massif from Poon Hill and finally fend off your fatigue and stiffness in natural hot water spring bath in Tatopani. You will get to interact with locals at local hotels, shops or even in their daily choirs.

Upper Mustang trek offers the unique opportunity for the global travellers to understand the true lives of real mountain people, to interact and to closely observe the strong relationship between the mountains and human. The land similar to that of Tibetan plateau is almost treeless, barren landscape and yet possesses distinctive beauty that overwhelms thousands of tourists every year. You will also visit some of the important areas that have historical, religious and cultural values like Muktinath, various monasteries, gumbas etc.

Your 14 days journey begins in Kathmandu with tours of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Next you will you drive to Pokhara and trek to Ghadruk, the starting point of the trekking. Located at the northern-western region of Nepal, the weather is cold and dry. The trip is moderate in level.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive at Kathmandu

Once you arrive at the airport, you will be welcome by our staff and transfer you to the hotel. You can either rest or roam around the hotel premises. Overnight stay at hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Sightseeing at Kathmandu

After breakfast, we will begin our day by visiting cultural and religious places, roaming around the local place and markets. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara [6 hrs drive]

We will drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara early in the morning. We will have our breakfast and lunch on the way. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 04: Trek to Ghandruk [5-6 hrs of walk]

We will drive from Kathmandu early in the morning to Nayapul.  From here we start our trek to Ghandruk. Our trail starts climbing to the stone paved path, passing the small village, mesmerizing the view of Annapurna and greenery around all the way to Ghandruk. Ghandruk is the community of Gurung. Overnight stay at guesthouse.

Day 05: Trek from Ghandruk to Tadapani [4-5 hrs of walk]

The trail heads to the northwest of the village towards Tadapani. We gradually climb through the dense forest and reach to Bheri Kharka. As we continue our trek, hearing the sounds of birds chirping finally arrive at Tadapani. Overnight stay at guesthouse.

Day 06: Trek from Tadapani to Ghorepani [5-6 hrs of walk]

We will continue our trek csrossing a small stream and climbing up the hills. We can see some birds and animals while passing through the forest. As the trail continues, we will reach to the top of the hill from where we can see the Ghorepani Village as well as the magnificent view of Annapurna South, Himchuli, Machhapuchhre and other mountain peaks.  Moving down through some trees, we reach Ghorepani. Overnight stay at guesthouse.

Day 07: Trek from Ghorepani to Tatopani [7-8 hrs of walk]

Early in the morning, we will hike to Poonhill where we can view the sunrise over the mountain peaks. After enjoying the view, we will head back to guesthouse to get our bags and move forward to our next destination Tatopani. The trail continues down the hill passing through Ghar Khola leading to Tatopani. We can enjoy natural hot spring at Tatopani. Overnight stay at guesthouse.

Day 08: Trek from Tatopani to Ghas[6-7 hrs of walk]

We will trek on road following the trail of Kali Gandaki River. We can view the peaceful natures greenery all the way to Ghasa. Overnight stay at guesthouse.

Day 09: Trek from Ghasa to Marpha[6-7 hrs of walk]

The trail continues from Ghasa going through the forest along the Lete river banks which leads to Lete. The trek continues passing the Larjung Village arriving at the apple orchards surrounded village Marpha. Overnight stay at guesthouse.

Day 10: Trek from Marpha to Kagbeni[5-6 hrs of walk]

We will continue our trek from Marpha going along the east bank of river, passing Ekla Bhatti and descending to the Kagbeni Valley. Overnight stay at guesthouse.

Day 11: Trek from Kagbeni to Muktinath[4-5 hrs of walk]

After having breakfast, we will start our trek to Muktinath. As the trails continue, we will pass through the oldest village Jharkot and from there we will descend to the Muktinath. Muktinath is a pilgrimage for both Hindu and Buddhist. We can enjoy the mesmerizing view of Mountains and Landscape. Overnight at tea house lodge.

Day 12: Trek from Muktinath to Jomsom[4-5 hrs of walk]

On this day, we will follow the trail to Jomsom passing through Jharkot. We will trek through the small irrigation stream reaching Khingar and following the road leading to Jomsom. Overnight at tea house lodge.

Day 13: Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara. Free day at Pokhara for sightseeing.

We will take an early flight from Jomsom to Pokhara enjoying the amazing view of Dhaulagiri. Once we reach Pokhara, we will move to the hotel and then we can sightsee some must-visit places of Pokhara. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 14: Drive from Pokhara back to Kathmandu.

We will drive back from Pokhara to Kathmandu which will take 7 hours approximately. You can see the green scenery hills and banks of Trishuli River flowing along the highway. Overnight stay at hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 15: Transfer to International Airport for departure.

Today will be your last day in Nepal. Our representative will drop you at the International Airport as per your flight schedule for your next destination.
