Overview

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is one of the most popular trekking routes in the Annapurna region among the people who are looking for an easy and short trek in the land of wonderful mountains. You can view the best sunrise and sunset views from the last destination i.e. Poon Hill at the 3210m altitude.

Thousands of visitors visited Ghorepani and Poon Hill each year, it is possible to run the trek any time of year but the best time to visit in March to Mid May and September to December. You can plan 3 to 4 days for the trek and can take multiple routes either through Ulleri village or take the route from Ghandruk – both however starts from Nayapul. The difficulty level is moderate so it suitable for everyone.

During the trek get immense views of Mt. Dhaulagiri 8167m, Annapurna I 8091m, Fishtail / Machhapuchhre 6993m, Nilgiri 7041m, Bharha Shikhar 7647m Annapurna south 7219m, Annapurna II 7939m, Annapurna III 7555m, Annapurna IV 7525m, Lamjung Himal 6988m, Hiun chuli 6434m, and many more white smiling mountains.
Trekking to Ghorepani Poon Hill trail winds through patchwork valleys, dense rhododendron forests and past icy waterfalls where travelers can stop to cool their mind after the walk. Around every corner is a tantalizing glimpse of the high mountains horizons. The trekking trail passes through the ethnic villages inhabited by Magars and Gurungs.
Following your arrival, you will drive to Pokhara. Your journey to Ghorepani Poon Hill trekking will start from Nayapul, Pokhara. You can customize your trip with the day tour in Kathmandu and Pokhara along with the hot spring bath at Tatopani Myagdi.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel

Arrival at the airport, you will be transferred to respective hotels.

Day 02: Kathmandu Valley Tour

Drive to various historical and cultural attraction spots in the valley such as Palace areas, Swayambhu Stupa, Baudha Stupa, Pashupati temple etc.

Day 03: Kathmandu to Pokhara drive

Drive to Pokhara. Evening tour to lakeside and preparation for trekking.

Day 04: Drive to Nayapul and Trek to Tikhedhunga (1500m)

An hour drive to Nayapul. Following the Modi River and passing several villages like Birethanti, Ramghai, Sudame etc. you will reach the village Tikhedhunga.

Day 05: Trek to Ghorepani (2826m)

You will hike through steep climb to Ulleri. Enjoy the views of massive Annapurna. Following the walk through the rhododendron forests, villages and small streams you will reach Ghorepani.

Day 06: Hike to Poon Hill (3210m) and Trek to Tadapani (2721m) – 6 hours

You will need to wake early for this day and head to Poon Hill for the sunrise. The climb to Poon Hill will take around one and half hour. Descend to hotel then trek to Gurung Hill and down to Modi river through forests. And finally arrive at Tadapani.

Day 07:  Trek to Ghandruk Village

An easy day of the trip may start late as well but arriving early and explore the beauties of Ghandruk is worth full. The trek mostly goes normal down via forests where you may encounter the monkeys. Do not walk alone along the trail. After arriving at Ghandruk you may visit the Gurung museum and explore the clean and beautiful settlements.

Day 08: Trek to Nayapul and drive to Pokhara

As you start from village the easy trail via farm lands arrives at newly build road and keep following along the Modi River you arrive Nayapul to catch the car drive to Pokhara. After arrive you may take walk around city and Phewa lake.

Day 09: Drive to Kathmandu

After breakfasts- Drive to Kathmandu, Normally Bus leaves at 7:00am from Pokhara and arrive Kathmandu at 2:00pm. You enjoy the beautiful villages on the river bank as you mostly fallows along the river.

Day 10: Depart Kathmandu

The trip comes at the end today. If you prefer to extend your trip let us know otherwise we will transfer you to Kathmandu airport. Normally 3 hours before your flight you are required to check in.
