For most travelers a mere glimpse of Mt. Everest is adequate to give a feeling of content. Trekking in the Everest region is one of the most sought and desired treks across the world. Everest Cho La Pass Gokyo Trek is one of the lifetime adventures equipped with cultural exploration and natural beauties.

Everest- Cho La Pass and Gokyo trek is a combination trekking package that combines the trekking to Everest base camp with Gokyo lake and Cho La pass. This trail includes the view of Everest base camp and also goes through renowned regions like Lukla, Namche Bazar, Tengboche and much of the Khumbu district. This package is suitable for those looking for high adventures and thrilling experience. On the path, you will see the lush landscape, forests, monasteries, people, culture, mountainous lifestyle, glaciers, and glacier lakes. Above all, your walk to the Everest Base Camp will be an achievement; a trophy for the lifetime. Crossing the Cho La Pass above 5,400m is also not an easy task either. This adventurous trek offers you the best views of mountains like Mt. Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Pumori and many more.

The trip can expand to 18 to 21 days. The Chola Pass trekking has some brief and interesting “climbs” of Gokyo Ri, Chukkung Ri and Kalapathar for some master views of icefalls and glaciers of Mahalangur Himalayan range which comprises of five major 8000+ meter peaks such as Everest, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, Lhotse-Shar and Makalu.

You adventurous trekking in the Everest region begins after you fly to Lukla. You shall embark on the journey to reach Namche Bazar via Phakding. From Namche Bazar, passing through Tengboche, Dingboche, Lobuche, and Gorakshep, you will reach Everest Base Camp. Then, viewing the best of the Everest from Kalapatthar, you will descend down to and cross the Cho La Pass and then back to Namche Bazar. Next day, continuing your return journey, you shall leave Namche Bazar and descend down to Lukla. Finally, you will take a flight to Kathmandu from Lukla.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive in the Kathmandu

Once you arrive at Kathmandu international airport and our representative will transfer you to your respective hotel. Preparation for the trek.

Day 02: Sightseeing in the Kathmandu Valle

Kathmandu shall intoxicate you as you walk through the crowd and noisy streets of Asan and Indrachowk. The Pashupatinath Temple, Basantapur Durbar Square, Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, Changu Narayan, etc. are some of the world heritage sites enlisted by UNESCO you might not want to miss visiting. Thamel is one of the best places for shopping for trekking gears. We shall sit in a short Debrief Session regarding the trek in the late afternoon. Stay overnight at your hotel.

Day 03: Kathmandu – Lukla – Phakding 2,610m

You will take the domestic flight to Lukla that will be 40 min. You will get chances to views memorable joined countryside and river valleys below. Hike for 3 to 4 hours to Phakding.

Day 04: Phakding to Namche Bazar 3,440m

After your breakfast, you shall make through the forests full with blue pines to reach the Benkar Village (2700m). A gentle climb brings you to the Chumoa Village. You shall descend down to cross the Monjo Khola before arriving at the Monjo Village (2800m). Crossing the Dudh Koshi River at Jorsale Village (2804m), you shall make through the thin forest before the Bhote Koshi River. Then, an easy ascent shall bring you to Namche Bazar. Stay overnight at Namche Bazar.

Day 05: At Namche Bazar

Today is the day to explore this mysterious and beautiful place and let your body acclimatize with the high altitude. A short walk shall take you to the Sherpa museum. You can visit the Everest view hotel and explore the Khumjung Village. The village is one of the largest Sherpa settlements. Stay overnight at Namche Bazar.

Day 06: Namche Bazar to Tengboche 3,867m

After descending down to the Dudh Koshi River, you shall ascent through the dense rhododendron forest, and cross the river to arrive at Phunki Thanga. From there, you shall ascend again through the rhododendron forest. An ascent after you cross a suspension bridge takes you to Tengboche. Tengboche boasts the largest monastery in the Khumbu region. Stay overnight at Tengboche.

Day 07: Tengboche to Dingboche 4,360m

On this day, you will descend to Debuche village, passing through the Mani Walls and Chortens, and through the lush forests. You shall cross the Imja Khola via a suspension bridge and ascend to the Pangboche Village. After the Imja Valley, you shall cross the Lobuche River and ascent to find fields with stone walls — the Dingboche Village.

Day 08: At Dingboche

Take rest and hike around the nearby hills to get used to with the altitude. You will hike around 2 to 3 hours to Dingboche to reach in the peak or Chhukung Valley for the wonderful views of Himalayan ranges, special views for Island peak and AmaDablam Mountain.

Day 09: Dingboche- Lobuche (4930m)

You will get chance to take a beautiful walk where the mountain such as Cholatse, Lobuche and Pumari lie. Lobuche is situated at the altitude of 4,930m. It takes around 3 to 4 hours for trekking.

Day 10: Lobuche –Gorakshep (5160m) – Base camp (5365m)

Start an early walk at around 7 am for 2 hours to reach Gorkshep.  Then you will continue your treks to Everest Base Camp which will take 4 more hours walk. Enjoy the spectacular views of the Khumbu Icefall from the world-renowned Mt. Everest Base Camp. Overnight stay at Gorakshep.

Day 11: Gorakshep to Kalapatthar & Dzongla 4,830m

Early in the morning, you shall make through a steep trail to Kalapatthar to witness the breathtaking view of the sunrise in the mountains. Kalapatthar offers the panoramic views of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Chagatse, Pumori, and other peaks. Then, you shall descend down from  Gorakshep, and reach Lobuche in a couple of hours. In the next couple of hours, you shall be in Dzongla. Stay overnight at Dzongla.

Day 12: Dzongla to Thagnak 4,500m; via Cho La Pass 5,420m

You will start your journey from the west of Dzongla, descending down to the basin. Then ascend steep over the harsh boulders to reach the Cho La Pass. It is a dream place to reach the pass for many trekkers with breathtaking views and prayers’ flags. Then, you shall descend down to the Thagnak Village. Stay overnight at Thagnak.

Day 13: Thagnak to Gokyo 4,750m

You will reach Ngozumpa Glacier after a short trek from Thagnak. The other side of the glacier provides you with the views of the second Gokyo Lake and the third Gokyo Lake a little distance away. The Gokyo Village is located at its edge. In the first lake, you shall get to see the Lama's footprints. Beyond the fifth lake lies the Cho Oyu base camp. Stay overnight at Gokyo.

Day 14: Gokyo to Marchhermo 4,410m via Gokyo Ri

You will start the journey earlier to ascend to Gokyo Ri. Gokyo Ri is another important attraction of this trek. The top offers magnificent views of Ngozumpa Glacier and Gokyo Valley, and panoramic views of Khumbu Mountain Range like Mt. Nuptse, Lhotse, Makalu, Gychung Kang, Cho-Oyu, and Mt. Everest. Then you shall descend down to Marchhermo. Stay overnight at Marchhermo.

Day 15: Marchhermo to Namche Bazar 3,440m

It takes around 5 hours to reach Namche from Marchhermo. The trail passes through the forest full with juniper, pine and rhododendron trees. You can enjoy the views of Mt. Thamserku, Ama Dablam, and Nuptse from distance all the while walking to Namche Bazar. Stay overnight at Namche Bazar.

Day 16: Namche Bazar to Lukla 2,860m

You will further trek back to Namche Bazaar. Your final night will be at the Lukla where you will capture all the naturally beautiful views of Mt. Everest along with the other wonderful mountains.

Day 17: Fly to Kathmandu 1,400m

You will take a flight back to Kathmandu. You can view the Mt. Everest for the last time through the plane windowpane. After that, you might love to go shopping before your return. You might also stroll around the city to visit some of the attractions in the valley. Overnight stay in the hotel.

Day 18: Final Departure

The trip comes at the end today. If you prefer to extend your trip let us know otherwise we will transfer you to Kathmandu airport. Normally 3 hours before your flight you are required to check in.
